In the past you’ve talk about how women spend money frivolously. Would there be a difference between a woman who spends money frivolously compared to a woman who wants buy nice things for herself? Would you consider a woman who wants to purchase nice things as being financially irresponsible?
When women talk about “buying nice things” they probably think of items that cost a lot and have limited use, such as expensive clothes. Quite often, they are throwing away their money. It seems that a surprising number of women buy clothes and only wear them once or twice, or perhaps not at all.
Chicks in my experience spend way too much money on vehicles, for example. It’s one thing to buy a nice car if you can afford it, but I’ve known them to buy cars that are 1.5-2x their annual salary. Meanwhile, one chick I knew was making 200k+ during her height and drove an old pickup her dad gave her. She wanted to spend all her money to build a house on her parent’s land. This is the exception, however. I’ve known women that can have a mortgage, car payment and 10k in credit card debt and still shell out cash for a trip to some exotic island. They’ll always have an excuse to, like their best friend’s graduation or brother’s birthday.
Checks out on in my experience as well, most women I have known are not very good with money, with some few exceptions here and there. On occasion, their expenses may not have been frivolous, but even then there was little consideration of cost-to-quality, looking for alternatives, or general budgeting.
What I found surprising was that I found even girls who were otherwise intelligent, like 2 times STEM masters degree intelligent, girls who had a better grasp of math and statistics than me, seemingly could not handle economic or financial matters very well.
The most flabbergasting example I remember was one who, together with a work colleage of hers, tried to argue to me that the same product should be priced the same everywhere, as if there were no transport costs and local cost differentials. Then they tried to argue that government provided healthcare was effectively free and universally accessible because the government said so, a statement that defies logic even in civilized countries with well funded public healthcare (and we are talking Latin America here!).
Both of them were girls with completed masters degrees working in non-bullshit scientific research. Go figure….

Just because you graduate in STEM doesn’t grant you immunity to sloppy reasoning.
Arguably, you need a higher IQ for STEM than Finance or Economics, with the possible exception of a subdiscipline like Quantitative Finance and, perhaps, Econometrics. Nonetheless, you can get pretty far in STEM by rote-learning as well as picking easy specializations. It is quite common that there is an alternative track, primarily for women. They are also generally held to a much lower standard than men.
Lots of people are financially illiterate these days, and the expectations on women in this area are especially low, since the expectations are for men to handle the family’s financial matters (or at least was, until very recently).
Compare this to Japanese culture, for example. It’s traditionally very patriarchal, but handling the family funds and finances is considered a feminine activity, so the women do it over there. They’re usually quite competent at it.
You are referring to “Mrs. Watanabe”. From my limited familiarity with this concept, these are normally Japanese housewives who have too much time on their hand. Also, the Japanese have a higher average IQ than basically any other nation, so it should not be surprising that there are more women who develop an interest in investing. On a related note, in some Japanese families it seems that the husband hands over his paycheck to his wife, who takes care of all the finances, and only gets an allowance to spend on himself. Perhaps this is more due to convenience but this example is often brought up when feminists want to make the claim that Japanese culture is not not nearly as patriarchal as it may seem.

Amusingly, I recall a case of a complaint against a manager for his rude comments and generally rather inappropriate behavior. In past Open Threads and/or Articles you’ve noted that as men increasing get older the difficult it becomes to attract young women in their 20s. Thus, age matters. So, how is it that a woman who is 10 to 15 years younger can still be physically attracted to an older man despite his finances.
I think it depends a lot on the age of the man and woman. In your 40s, you can still be in pretty good shape, so I do not find it implausible at all that such guys can get women in their late 20s. If you are thinking of older guys, 50 and above, then the age difference you mentioned leads to the women being at the tail end of their fertile years. At that point, they can be glad if any guy shows interest in more than a quick pump-and-dump.
I met this girl about a month a go at a bar. She’s 25 years old. I was there with a male acquaintance. This girl kept walking by me repeatedly until I said hi.
